  2.                            LEVEL EDITOR FOR APOGEE'S
  3.                    RISE OF THE TRIAD

  5. RottED is a fully-functional, Windows-based level editor.  It was designed 
  6. for simplicity and ease-of-use. This version of RottED has the following 
  7. general features:
  8.  
  9.     *     A complete editing system based on the manipulation of 
  10.         preloaded image tiles. No data tables or numbers to worry 
  11.         about. 
  12.     *     Complete GUI front-end for ease of use.
  13.     *    Edit existing game levels or create completely new ones.
  14.     *    All cell insertions and deletions are done using simple 
  15.         mouse commands and a few keyboard keys.
  16.     *     Directly edit the numerical data in any map cell for adding 
  17.         features associated with songs, object heights, cell XY 
  18.         locations, exits, and timed events.
  19.     *     Maps can be displayed and edited in any of the five 
  20.         built-in display resolutions.
  21.     *     All help is available as on-line hypertext for easy access 
  22.         and cross-reference.

  26.                                 INSTALLATION
  27.  
  28. Install RottED just as you would most custom Windows applications.  Copy
  29. all the RottED distribution files to the desired subdirectory and select 
  30. the "File/New" menu option and then select "Program Item" to create a new 
  31. Windows item.  Enter the Description (RottED), Command Line path/name 
  32. (c:\rott\rotted.exe if you put RottED into the ROTT area),  Working 
  33. Directory (c:\rott for the ROTT area), and finally, select the icon for 
  34. RottED.  The RottED.EXE file has a built-in icon so select the Change 
  35. Icon command and select the icon.  To run RottED, just double-click its 
  36. Icon.

  38. Please make note of the folowing things when first using RottED:
  39.  
  40.     *    Start RottED and read the online help FIRST.  You'll be
  41.         up and running much quicker that way.
  42.     *    If RottED doesn't seem to display correctly or you observe
  43.         any other "problems", read the online help Technical
  44.         Help section.
